BEST OF: 3 Steps To Make Quick Decisions In Your Business

There are a lot of decisions to be made as a wellness busines owner, and sometimes the fear of making the wrong decision can have us feeling stuck in paralysis analysis mode.  The more options you have, the more overwhelming it can feel. This can come into play when it comes to things like choosing a niche, finding a software or even how long your coaching program should be.

What I have come to realize over the years is that there is rarely ever one perfect right choice. Each option you have typically has pros and cons, so it usually comes down to the ‘best’ choice rather than the ‘perfect’ choice.

In this episode, we’re covering the 3 steps you can take to simplify your decision-making process and feel confident that you’re making the right choices based on where you are right now in your business.

Here’s what you’ll discover:

  • Three simple steps decision making steps to make to move out of fear and procrastination into a decisive action taker
  • The main reason why holding off on deciding could be sabotaging your success as a coach
  • One life-changing realization when it comes to making decisions that will release any doubt or anxiety you have in becoming a strong decision maker for your business

If you’ve ever felt paralyzed by the choices you need to make as a business owner and health coach, you won’t want to miss this episode.

We’re going to share how we make decisions in our business to give you some ideas, and we’re going to share a specific example of a big decision we had to make, so you can see how it played out.

Recently we decided on a learning management system for a course we’ll be releasing in February. There were lots of options out there so we asked our assistant, Isabelle, to do a little investigation for us. She came back with the top options based on our requirements and then we went into deliberation mode.

Things we took into consideration:

  1. How many spots can one platform fill in your business?
  2. Does it process payments?
  3. Is there a client/student limit?
  4. Can we create coupon codes if needed?
  5. Can it drip content on a schedule?
  6. Price
  7. Ease of use on the back-end and the front-end
  8. Will the platform serve us in the short-term and will it grow with us over time?
  9. Connectivity with other platforms and software

Our top 4 contenders were:

  1. Add an LMS (Learing Management System) plugin to our website (such as MemberVault)
  2. Kajabi
  3. Thinkific
  4. Teachable
  5. As a Health Coach you have another great option called Practice Better, which is designed specifically for coaches.

After reviewing our options and looking at what we needed, we decided to go with Kajabi since it seemed like the best fit for us right now.

3 Steps To Make Quick Decisions
In Your Business

Here are 3 Steps to Make Quick Decisions in Your Business

1. Identify your top 3-5 ‘must-haves’ as a way to narrow down your overall options

If you don’t have a list of “must-haves” write down what you think would be ideal and start there.

For us, it came down to ease-of-use on the front & back end (for us as well as our students) a reliable connection with our CRM (Ontraport), student limits, (allowing for future growth).

2. Decide on a budget that works for you.

What will fit into your budget right now? The answer will likely depend on the level of income you’re making right now. Some of the decisions you make when you’re just starting out will probably change as you bring in consistent revenue and can use tools that might be a better fit.

While we weren’t necessarily driven by price as the main criteria, we did think that we were going to be able to use one of the less expensive LMS options at first. However, once we dug into it there wasn’t a clear-cut way to connect those platforms with Ontraport without requiring other tools like Zapier, and that just complicates things a little, so that was one of the reasons we went with Kajabi.

3. Give yourself no more than 72 hours to review the information and decide.

Based on your 3-5 must haves, one option will likely stand out above the rest. After 72 hours it’s time to choose and move on.

For us – We jumped on a call with our VA, Isabelle, and worked through the pros and cons of each option.

Key tip: Don’t stress too much about each decision because you can change your mind and go in a different direction any time you want.

If you’re thinking about a program platform for running your coaching programs, we recommend checking our Practice Better.  We are an affiliate for them because we love their software, app, and customer support.  You can sign up and get started with your first 3 clients for free.
