Life lessons and inspiration are all around us when we are open to them, but I never imagined I would learn priceless business lessons from a soccer coach. Go figure!
As I was watching my daughter practice with her soccer coach the other day, I was struck by what he was telling her. It hit me how much of what he was saying could be a complete game changer for us as wellness professionals.
Crazy, I know, but stick with me here.
The issue of fear and uncertainty is very real, so if this is where you are right now, you are not alone.
Here are words of business wisdom straight from the soccer field:
The coach told my daughter several times, with great enthusiasm: “Be confident. I want you to think to yourself – I’m fast, I’m strong, confident, aggressive.” I watched my daughter’s physiology change and the look on her face changed too. She looked more intense and determined as she was going after the ball like nothing could stop her.
Then the coach said:
“Be ready…look for your opportunity. Keep going, push forward.”
“Regroup, regroup! Keep going…push forward. Stay with it.”
I kept thinking, Wow – great coaching! I also couldn’t help but think how much this could help us in business. “Be ready…look for your opportunity. Keep going. Push forward. Regroup.”
What would you do if you felt more confident and determined? What opportunities would you look for, or what would you attempt?
There’s something I heard recently that I find very helpful: “There is no failure; it’s just a test.” I think this takes some of the pressure off of the misconception that everything has to be perfect before you proceed with something new. As health coaches, we need to put ourselves out there and be open to testing a few things to see what works best.
Don’t be afraid to go for what you want to do. Try it out and change course when you need to. Keep going. Push forward. Regroup.
I thought I was just in for enjoying an hour at the park watching my daughter get some great coaching with her ball-handling skills. I didn’t know I’d also get a lesson in business strategies. Who knew!
This week I hope you take some time to be open to new opportunities, so you’re ready to dive in and take action – it doesn’t have to be perfect!
Push the fear aside…
Keep going, push forward, be confident! You’re strong – you can do this!
What are you committing to this week? Make a goal of taking at least one action step before the end of the week.
I can’t wait to hear what you do!
